Staff Correspondent The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Faruq Ahmad Siddiqi, on Sunday said bigger participation of the financial institutions in the capital market would bring qualitative change in the market. 'In recent times, FIs have shown interest in bigger number to provide capital market services,' he said as chief guest while inaugurating the brokerage house of Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd through a function held in the Dhaka city. Abdullah Bokhari, president of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, president of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, and Sajjatuz Jumma, founder chairman of SJIBL, spoke on the occasion as special guests. Akkas Uddin Mollah, chairman of the board of directors of SJIBL, presided over the ceremony, while the bank's managing director Muhammad Ali gave welcome speech. SEC members, SJIBL directors, officials of banks, merchant banks and brokerage houses among others attended the inaugural ceremony of the bank's brokerage house, Capital Market Services Division, situated at Motijheel in the city. |
