Staff Correspondent Cardiologists on Saturday called for quitting smoking and doing physical exercise regularly to prevent heart diseases and lead a healthy life. They were addressing a symposium on 'complex angioplasty and chronic occlusion' held at the National Heart Foundation in the Dhaka city. Fazila-Tun-Nesa, senior consultant cardiologist of National Heart Foundation, mentioned that coronary angioplasty is becoming a popular treatment for the coronary heart patients. Shirish Hiremath, interventional cardiologist from India, and Mohammad Badiuzzaman, senior interventional cardiologist of the foundation, and Nazir Ahmed, senior consultant cardiologist, among other, spoke at the symposium. Shirish Hiremath said the treatment for heart patients become easier with the invention of modern techniques, newer and improved devices. Mohammad Badiuzzaman mentioned that the foundation was fully equipped to deal with most challenging angioplasty which is essential for heart-blockages patients. |
