The Anti-Corruption Commi-ssion on Wednesday decided to issue a notice to Qazi Faruque Ahmed, the chairman of non-governmental organisation Proshika, asking him to submit his wealth statement in seven working days.

The commission approved the issuance of notice after primary inquiry into Faruque's wealth, a commission source said. The notice will be served very soon, he said.

Faruque was named on the fourth lists of 35 high-profile corruption suspects announced by the commission on October 4, 2007.

The commission also approved the submission of the charge sheet in the case against former state minister for law Shahjahan Omar, his wife and son for acquiring wealth beyond their known sources of income and hiding information in the statements.

A case was filed against Shahjahan Omar, his wife Mehjabin Farhana Omar, son Adnan Omar on charge of acquiring wealth of beyond known sources with the Gulshan police on September 09, 2007.

The source said three of the commission's public prosecutors had applied to the commission seeking to be relieved of his duty with effect from the end of February. The prosecutors are Sharif Bhuiyan, Karishma Jahan and Syed Ejaj Kabir.
