Staff Correspondent Several hundred students of Dhaka College and Eden Women's College staged demonstration on Monday following a rumour about leak of question paper of English comprehensive course part-2 exam under National University. After hearing a rumour that the question paper had been leaked for the third time, they took to the streets at around 7:30pm. The examination that was earlier postponed on November 11, 2007 and January 9 this year is scheduled to be held on January 29 and 30. The agitated students blocked Mirpur Road near New Market, disrupting traffic for hours and creating a severe traffic jam. A large number of vehicles remained stranded during the demonstration. Students of Eden Women's College alleged that the police hurled abusive words at them during the demonstration. Angry students were continuing their agitation till filing this report at around 9:30pm. They demanded that the authorities should not hold the examination scheduled . A huge contingent of police and members of the Rapid Action Battalion was trying to bring the situation under control. |
