The Anti-Corruption Commission filed a charge sheet with a Bogra court in a case against former BNP lawmaker Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu and his wife Shamsunnahar Zaman, accused of owning wealth of about Tk.1.75 crore beyond known sources of income.

The commission’s deputy director Monirul Hoq, who is investigating the case, filed the charge sheet. An assistant director of the commission, Asish Kumar Kundu, filed the case on September 6, 2007.

According to the prosecution, Lalu, detained in Bogra jail, and his family members were asked to submit their wealth statements.

He submitted the wealth statements through a representative.

But the investigation officer found he had owned Tk 1.3 crore beyond his known source of income and he had not mentioned his wealth of Tk 44.84 lakh in the statement.

His wife Shamshunnahar owned Tk. 43.64 lakh beyond her known source of income and did not mention wealth of Tk 13.26 lakh in the statement.
