The chief adviser, Fakhruddin Ahmed, returned home Saturday evening after attending the World Economic Forum's annual meeting at Davos in Switzerland.

An Emirates Airlines flight, carrying the chief adviser and his entourage, landed at the Zia International Airport at 7:25pm.

The chief adviser had a stopover in Dubai on his way back to Dhaka. The home affairs adviser, MA Motin, the LGRD and cooperatives adviser, M Anwarul Iqbal, dean of diplomatic corps, Swiss ambassador in Dhaka, chiefs of the three services and senior civil and military officials received the chief adviser at the VVIP terminal of the airport.

Fakhruddin, who left Dhaka on January 22 to attend the WEF meeting, spent hectic days in Switzerland. He addressed a plenary session and panel discussion titled 'The Quest for Peace and Stability'.

The Pakistan and Afghanistan presidents and Iraqi deputy prime minister also took part in the sessions.

On the sidelines of the WEF meeting, the chief adviser held bilateral meetings with the Netherlands prime minister and had meetings with former British prime minister Tony Blair, ADB president and the ILO director general, apart from interactions with international business leaders of leading companies.

Fakhruddin also addressed an international press conference and had a meeting with the Bangladesh community in Switzerland.
