United News of Bangladesh . Gazipur Thousands of devotees faced a lot of trouble in returning home due to inclement weather and lack of transports following sudden conclusion of Biswa Ijtema at Tongi on Friday. About 50,000 devotees remained stranded at Ijtema ground till Saturday evening. They had to suffer a under the open sky and rail station during drizzle while waiting for of vehicles to take them to respective destinations. About 100 devotees from Middle East countries came at the Ijtema Saturday morning, as they did not receive the news of its early conclusion. They arrived at thew Zia International Airport Friday evening. Later, they were taken to the Kakril Mosque from where they came to Ijtema ground Saturday morning. About 6,775 devotees from 68 countries, who had come to attend the Ijtema, will stay at Ijtema ground till (Sunday). Meanwhile, a Pakistani devotee, Nisar Uddin, died of old-age complications early Saturday. His janaza was held after juhr prayers. The body was scheduled to be flown home Saturday night. A total of four devotees died of biting cold and old-age complications while attending the Ijtema this year. Twenty-six others fell sick were admitted to the Tongi Government Hospital. Nine of them were later shift to Dhaka. |
