Freedom fighters of Barisal division on Saturday demanded trial of war criminals.

At an exchange of views with journalists at the Barisal Reporters Unity, they also condemned the political governments for their inaction in this regard.

Sheikh Qutubuddin, convener of the district unit of Muktijoddha Sangsad Command Council, and Enayet Hossain Chowdhury, member of the committee, addressed the meeting also attended by representatives of different socio-cultural and political organisations.

Reiterating their demand for trial of the war criminals, the participants said if the war criminals had been brought to justice, corruption would not spread over the country in such an alarming proportion.

They also demanded cancellation of certificates given to the fake freedom fighters, and prevent misuse of the freedom fighter's certificates.

The program was arranged as part of the preparations for a convention of the freedom fighters of Barisal division scheduled for February 2.
