The lawyers of the accused in the Bijoy TV graft case on the first day of taking testimony said the GD on which this case was filed and inquired, there is no existence of it in case docket. The ACC lawyer, on the other hand and PP Jahirul Islam said the GD copy will be produced before the court bringing from thana. ACC Chittagong Deputy Director Arif Siddique said he took over the responsibility of probing into the case at the directive of the higher authority and got prove of withdrawing 1.78 crore taka from the City Corporation.

Testifying of the witnesses on the side of plaintiff in the case has got underway at the court of Chittagong Divisional Special Tribunal Judge SM Solaiman which continued for about five hours. ACC Officer Arif Siddique Kotwali Thana OC Haniful Islam testified yesterday. ACC Assistant Director Jahangir Alam will testify today.

Bijoy TV case

The ACC filed a case against five persons including City mayor Alhaj ABM Mahiuddin Chowdhury with Kotwali Thana on May 27. But charge sheet was submitted against three persons including the Mayor on November 21 and thirty witnesses have been kept.

Special Tribunal Judge SM Solaiman framed charge for hearing of the trial of the case in presence of the accused on January 13 and testifying began from yesterday. Advocate Rezaul Karim, Advocate Salauddin Haider Siddique conducted the case on behalf of the accused while Advocate Jahirul Islam and PP Ehsanul Hoque Hena on behalf of the ACC and the state.
