EPB adopts programme PDF Print E-mail

The Export Promotion Bureau has adopted a programme styled 'One district one product' for diversifying the export base and exploiting district-wise export potentials.

The programme has been taken in line with a similar programme in Japan 'One village one product,' said an EPB press release Thursday. Mitigation of the unemployment problem and improvement of the socio-economic condition of the country through expansion of traditional and environmentally favourable products are the objectives of the programme.

The EPB finalised the one district one product programme at a meeting on January 8.

Under the ODOP programme, 14 products have been selected for 41 districts.

The products and the districts are as follows: Agor wood and Agor ator - Moulavibazar, crab -Khulna, medicinal plant - Natore, fine and aromatic rice - Dinajpur, Naogaon and Kushtia; organic tea - Panchagar, rubber - Bandarban, handicrafts - Sunamganj, Feni, Faridpur, Rangpur and Kurigram; handloom textiles - Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Tangail, Comilla and Rangamati; clay tiles - Satkhira, fresh vegetables - Joypurhat, Chandpur, Bogra, Nilfamari, Munshiganj, Meherpur, Jessore, Manikganj, Narsingdi, Jhenaidah and Narayanganj; fish - Netrokona, Barisal, Mymensingh, Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali and Narail; leather and leather goods - Chittagong, pineapple - Khagrachari, and betel - Chuadanga.
