Cases against Babar, Khandaker Mosharraf, Azam okayed PDF Print E-mail

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday approved the proposals to sue former state minister Lutfozzaman Babar, former minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, former lawmaker Mirza Azam and three others on charge of hiding information in their wealth statements and amassing illegal wealth beyond their known sources of income.

The charge sheets in cases against former lawmaker Sheikh Helal and his wife Rupa Chowdhury, and Rajuk's sacked authorised officers Mozaffar Uddin and Harun-or-Rashid were also approved at the commission meeting on the day.

The commission will sue Babar on charge of owning wealth of Tk 6.77 crore beyond his known sources of income and concealing information on his assets in the wealth statement submitted to the commission.

Mosharraf Hossain and his wife Bilkis Akhter will be sued on charge of hiding information on their wealth of Tk 3.11 crore and owning wealth of Tk 12.51 crore beyond their known sources of income, a commission official said.

Former Awami League lawmaker Mirza Azam and his wife Aleya Azam, and former National Board of Revenue member ATM Sarwar Hossain and his wife Nazma Sarwar will be sued on charge of hiding information on their assets in wealth statements and owning wealth beyond their known sources of income, the official said.
